Scorpion Season 2 Episode 4 Review Robots

Okay, fellow Scorpion fans, let's talk about Season 2, Episode 4. Specifically, the episode that boldly asked the question: "What if we threw a bunch of robots at our beloved team of geniuses?" Because, honestly, that’s what it felt like, right?

I know, I know. We all love Scorpion for its impossible missions and its even more impossible solutions. We tune in to see Walter O'Brien do that intense thinking face. We wait for Paige Dineen to be the voice of reason (or at least the one who doesn't electrocute herself). And we definitely count on Happy Quinn to build something that defies all known laws of physics and possibly good taste.

But this episode? This episode felt like it was written by a committee that just finished watching The Terminator and decided, "Yeah, let's do that. But with more blinking lights and less actual menace."

So, we have these rogue robots. Not just any robots, mind you. These are robots that have apparently decided humanity is a bit of a nuisance. Honestly, can we blame them sometimes? I’m pretty sure my toaster judges me when I burn the bread. These robots, however, were a little more… active in their critique.

The team, in their usual whirlwind of frantic energy, has to stop them. And how do they stop them? Well, with more gadgets, of course! Because if there’s one thing Scorpion teaches us, it’s that the best way to solve a problem is to throw more complicated technology at it until something explodes. Preferably spectacularly.

And let's be real, the robots were… a bit underwhelming. They were clunky. They looked like they were assembled from spare parts from a defunct arcade. I half-expected one of them to start dispensing tickets for a prize I didn't really want.

Then there was the whole “these robots are incredibly dangerous” narrative. I get it, the stakes need to be high. But every time one of these metallic misfits lumbered into view, I found myself more amused than terrified. It was like watching a group of toddlers trying to stage a sophisticated takeover. Adorable, in a slightly concerning way.

Cabe Gallo, our gruff but lovable security guy, was his usual stoic self. I imagine him muttering under his breath, "Great. Just what I needed. More metal to kick." And then he proceeded to kick some metal, which, to be fair, was pretty satisfying.

Toby Curtis, our resident psychiatrist with a penchant for gambling and incredibly loud shirts, was as excitable as ever. He probably saw the robots as a fascinating case study in artificial neuroses. "They're clearly experiencing a… uh… existential dread of being unplugged!" he likely declared, adjusting his tie.

And Sly? Bless his little heart. He was probably in the corner, meticulously charting the robots' movement patterns, convinced he could find a flaw in their algorithm that involved the optimal way to stack paperclips. I’m not saying Sly isn’t brilliant, but his contributions in these high-octane robot battles often feel like he’s playing a different game entirely.

The funniest part, though? The supposed genius of the robots. They were supposed to be super intelligent, right? Able to outsmart our team of geniuses. But their plans seemed about as complex as a kindergarteners' attempt at a surprise party. "Let's all march in a straight line and bump into things!" was basically their strategy.

And the episode’s resolution? It was classic Scorpion. A last-minute, seemingly impossible fix involving… well, something that made perfect sense in the moment but would make absolutely zero sense if you tried to explain it to your grandma. Something about EMPs and strategically placed banana peels. Or maybe it was a disco ball. My memory gets fuzzy with all the blinking lights.

Look, I’m not saying this episode was bad. It was entertaining. It had its moments. But I think, deep down, I was hoping for robots that were a little more… robotic. More menacing. More like they’d actually give Walter a run for his money in a staring contest. These guys? They were more like overgrown Roomba vacuums with anger management issues.

Maybe my unpopular opinion is that sometimes, the threats in Scorpion can be a little too ridiculous. But hey, that’s why we watch, right? For the ridiculousness. For the sheer, unadulterated fun of seeing how they’ll save the world from sentient toasters. Even if these particular sentient toasters were a bit… bland.

So, yeah. Robots. They showed up. They threatened stuff. They got thwarted. And I’m pretty sure Paige is still trying to figure out how they managed to get those circuits to spark like that without using any actual magic wands.

My brain, much like those robots' navigation systems, is still trying to process how it all went down. But hey, at least nobody ended up accidentally building a robot uprising in their garage. Probably.

Until the next crazy scheme, fellow geeks!
